my secrets..

April 18, 2008 · 8 Comments

… and we’re all still sick. I’m really praying that we can shake this sickness off. We’ve been out of commission for a week now. Please pray we all get better and can start maintaining health!!

Onto other things!

I know a lot of people ask me how I do my wordfilled Wednesday posts. I thought I’d offer some of the tools I use, in no particular order.

  • I use paintshop pro X. You can download a trial version HERE. Or to buy a full version from Corel, go HERE.
  • If you go to www.download.com you can find a lot of trial programs and free programs that cost you nothing to use!!
  • http://help.cnet.com/digital-photography-learning/ has a lot of information for learning digital photography if you’re not really sure what you’re doing, or would like some pointers!
  • http://www.abstractfonts.com/ is where I found a lot of different fonts! Some are trial versions, and some you need to remember to give credit when you use them. I usually keep track of that in my “image -> properties” area, so when I print them in a book or something, I have knowledge of the name of font I used.
  • http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/ has a lot of ideas not just on scrapbooking, but photography and layout designing. I have found a lot of their stuff helpful!
  • As far as printing goes. Our local Dollar Store has some fine photo paper that I use, if I want to print out on my printer. I have a pixma 150. It costs me approx. $1.00 to print out off my printer, I usually buy my frame first before printing so I know what I want it to look like in the end as far as sizing goes!

Did I miss something? Feel free to ask me anything about my photography/digital altering here!

Word Filled Wednesday - Got milk?

sm-drink.jpg

Matthew 6:30-32

If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

——————————————–

There is nothing I enjoy more than a good cuppa’ Joe.  Just like everyone else.  I think this verse really made me think how much God really loves us, and that we don’t need to worry (don’t confuse with taking for granted).  He will provide us with the things we need (not always want).

I hope you’ll be blessed by todays Word Filled Wednesday.

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

Tackle it Tuesday!

from last weeks tackle list:

  • I need to go to the lab and get some tests done -done!
  • Go to Miss H’s school for an interview - went great
  • work on the never ending pile of laundry - still working on it.
  • clean my shirt i just spilt coffee on - done
  • get my stuff ready for stamp class otnight! - was ready!
  • oh ya, and finish washing and putting away all the winter clothes and boots; toss out stuff that doesn’t fit. - on the last batch of stuff that has to be cleaned and given away!

So, onto my new project!

My sink! I hate cleaning it b/c our water is hard. I have to use CLR on it to do anything! Anyhow, hubby was “helping” in the kitchen, so I thought I couldn’t wait any longer!

It didn’t turn out too bad!!!

Spaghetti gone wild

April 14, 2008 · 6 Comments

I’m always looking for new things to try with my children. I think most mom’s are. The thing is, sometimes you have to take a step back and do old favorites. Ones that everyone loves and that are tried and true.

Which is why I love this book!

Homemade Meals in Minutes - Family Friendly Menus Made Easy.  I got it the other day and started going through the recipes… they are so delicious.. all those yummy comfort foods we like… especially these days my children are so into spaghetti.. .. anything with noodles… the Mom’s Spaghetti Sauce recipe, which was so easy to make and so good… everyone ate way more than I thought they would! Doesn’t it look delicious?

This is one of those books you leave out on the counter, because not only will you use it often, but the pictures are so pretty! It almost makes me want to rip out the pages and frame them, they’re so cute! It has that old country feel to it.. like a rag doll… that country charm… I used to do cross stitches like it.

It is spiral bound, which makes it super easy to leave open on the page you want without having to worry about bending books (if you hate book bending like I do! lol yes I know weird.. but I think you know that I am already).

They make great gifts as well! This would be a book I’d buy for newly weds or teenagers that are learning to cook. It has a good repertoire of recipes in a variety of food genres that are quick and delicious!

Speaking of which! I think I need to try the Butterhorn Rolls next! (You’ll have to check back on my food blog to find pictures of those probably next week! lol)

Glad I’m a mom!

April 12, 2008 · 2 Comments

why am I glad I’m a mom?

Well first and foremost, I think it’s a total blessing from God to be able to be a mother.

It is something that after many years of infertility that I never thought would happen. And now that I am, I can’t imagine life without my precious little chick-lets…

they drive me crazy, teach me things,

and love me…. because I am their mom… they are a total gift and I really do count my blessings over them.

I am glad I’m a mom because I get to re-live life through their eyes… fresh, new, unaffected by the years.

I love being a mom because I get snuggled, and get to give snuggles,

I love being a mom because I get to buy cute little outfits, and kiss boo-boos

I love being a mom because I have the privilege to teach my children to love the Lord…

Why do you love being a mom?

Head over to Extravagant grace and enter in the contest to win a great book from Harvest House Publishers called: I’m Glad I’m a Mom.

do you?

April 11, 2008 · 9 Comments

do you ever wish you could verbal vomit in your blog?

I mean, I know there are many people who just tell everything, about everyone.. when people hurt you, or do things that they shouldn’t.. say really stupid things, etc…

I sometimes wish I could, yet I have to think of the true consequences… not so often that the person is going to read my blog… (my family for some odd reason doesn’t read my blog — or at least not that i’m aware of).. but just for the fact that I refuse to sink that low…. self control… oh yes, that’s the word I’m scrounging for..

So pray for me as I may mess up in real life and though am giving the right information, do it without hindering their faith (or step towards faith) and that God will provide me with enough control that I won’t feel like I’ve bent too much ..

(and about 20 minutes later….)

Here’s a bookmark that will help me with it… maybe you too?

Feel free to download it:
Photobucket

okay, onto better things now that I’ve got that off my chest in a weirdly round about way!

We put up another table the other day. I’ve got a small round table for the kitchen now; which actually works well b/c it is so small.. and with all the little people they don’t feel like they’re so far that they’re not sitting by us…

What’s your plans for the weekend?

I’m going to read!!! I’m so excited I got a new stack of books yesterday! I’m ready to dive into them!

Happy Weekend !!! I’ll be back on Monday!!!

warmer weather

April 10, 2008 · 9 Comments

while it’s not extremely warm here, but warm enough to play outside a bit, what are you doing for fun?

Mr. C and I have started a 2k every day initiative on the 160.  We are walking with the kiddos 2 kilometres (for our American friends - and spell check who don’t know what 2k is *snicker*)  As you can see from the picture.. it’s rather a gong show… but we are feeling better since we started about a week ago!  I think sometimes we convince ourselves that we can’t do it b/c we have so many children, but really we can, it’s just more….. more… challenging.. think of it as weightlifting while walking lol.

Can I challenge you to start an exercise initiative for the spring and summer?
